Expecting a child to take on the adults' responsibilities is not a healthy home environment. This statement will sting for many of you, but that is a fact.
Parentification has been a strong pattern for generations making it a reference for how we must raise our children. It is in fact so strong that parents who are now trying to break this cycle are being ridiculed and judged harshly for being "too soft" with their children.
Children should be allowed to be children. In this episode, Danielle walks covers the causes that lead to adults expecting their children to take on the parenting role, two types of Parentifications that we often see, the long term effects parentification has on children once they reach adulthood, and what NOT to tell your eldest child.
Everyone will see a bit of themselves and their childhood home dynamic in the topics that are being discussed in this episode. Which part resonated with you the most? I invite you to share in the comments if you are called to do so.

As we are getting more concerned with our kids' screen time addiction, we are completely avoiding the real issue... our kids are simply mirroring us!
With the average daily screen time for adults ranging from 6 to 13 hours a day (globally), we are now forced to admit that, before we can address our kids' screen time problem, we need to confront ours.
In this episode, Danielle walks us through the alarming stats that are coming up for 2025, shares how adults can get real with their screen time habits and the changes they can make to improve their number, and THEN what we can do to help our kids with their issues.
This is a topic we all need to be talking about with a more honest and realistic view. We are now 3 generations deep into this problem, the change has to start with us.
